Petitgrain essential oil is obtained from the leaves and young branches (shoots) of bitter orange. Petitgrain oil has long been used to purify air and surfaces, to maintain a strong immune system. There are 3 types of petitgrain essential oil, depending on the method of obtaining and the raw material source. Petitgrain oil is obtained:
- From the leaves and branches of bitter orange by steam distillation;
- From the flowers of bitter orange – also by steam distillation (in this case it is called neroli oil);
- From the peel of bitter orange fruits by cold pressing.
Petitgrain oil is very popular in the perfume industry for its fresh, slightly herbal aroma. It is added to body sprays, perfumes and eau de toilette, colognes and lotions. The aroma of petitgrain is liked by both women and men.
